Efekt farmakodynamiczny antagonistów receptora Cys-LT₁ obejmuje nie tylko działanie przeciwzapalne, związane z hamowaniem aktywności komórek i mediatorów, ale także wpływają hamująco na rozwój remodellingu dróg oddechowych. W pracy dokonano przeglądu badań klinicznych oceniających skuteczność leków antyleukotrienowych w chorobach alergicznych u dzieci. Przedstawiono także aktualne zalecenia dotyczące stosowania leków antyleukotrienowych w farmakoterapii astmy, alergicznego nieżytu nosa i nadreaktywności poinfekcyjnej.

Cysteinyl leukotrienes play a key role in the regulation of the immune response and have a multidirectional effect promoting and sustaining allergic inflammatory process. A pharmacodynamic profile of the Cys-LT₁ receptor antagonists comprises the anti-inflammatory action due to inhibition of various cell types and mediators, as well as prevention of airway remodeling. In the paper a review of clinical studies on the efficacy of leukotriene modifiers in allergic diseases in children has been accomplished. Current recommendations for the administration the leukotriene receptor antagonists in the pharmacotherapy of asthma, allergic rhinitis and post-infectious hyperreactivity have also been presented.
